DRAWING INWARD & OUTWARD

~ creative mindful experience ~

Drawing inward & outward is a series of creative exercises, and movement & mindful practices that engage you in the present through the senses. Learning ways to LOOK and SEE clearly, FEEL fully, and savour completely each moment. It is an invitation to focus and enjoy the process of creative expression, rather than the perfection or expectation of an outcome. We will take moments to sharpen our observational skills in seeing and feeling all the details, textures, lines, and contours that make up each of our unique inner and outer worlds. We will learn ways to find beauty in the simple and ordinary and surrender to the moment.

Using creative mindful practices as a healing source to cultivate a connection to ourselves, others, and our surroundings. To inspire exploration of our day-to-day in a more conscious way

WHAT TO EXPECT

WHERE

This program will be offered both outdoors and through online platforms

Outside: We will take to the streets, to stroll like a flaneur, through Montreal, wandering off the beaten path into nearby alleys and parks. Taking the time to slow down, observe, and tune into our direct experience. Using creative and mindful exercises, to look and see, listen to hear, and connect to feel. Having a conscious effort set to be mindful through our senses.

1 ) DRAWING INWARD: Choosing a nearby park to begin, we will pause to bring ourselves to the moment by checking in: Using our breath, and mindful meditation to slow down and observe our body and mind as it is at the moment. We will then move to a brief movement practice that is meant to release stagnant energy, circulate the chi, to the body and mind and calm the nervous system. So we can prepare to flow and use our senses to observe our direct experience.

2 ) DRAWING OUTWARD: We begin to stroll and meander through the quaint streets and alleyways of Montreal. Pausing along the way to practice LOOKING AND SEEING and noticing it all, through creative mindful drawing exercises.

SUBJECT MATTER:

Inspired by our day-to-day we will draw from what is within and surrounds us. Some of the themes will be ourselves, others, strangers, objects, buildings, and foliage.
